Name: Santa Claus
Profession: Bring joy to millions of children around the world
Age: Young at heart
What do you do for a living?
I bring magic into the lives of boys and girls around the world. I spend the entire year making toys with the help of my elves at the North Pole, then on Christmas Eve, the elves and I load up my sleigh, harness up our reindeer and fly around the world making special deliveries while children dream of sugarplums.
What type of training do you need to do your job?
Oh boy – I really need to stay up to date on all of the most popular toys so we can make sure to have supplies and the latest technology to create the toys boys and girls are waning this year.
I also work out in our North Pole gym so I can quickly zip up and down the chimney. And Mrs. Claus makes sure I eat healthy to make up for all those cookies I’ll be eating on Christmas Eve.
What’s your favorite part of your job?
There’s nothing quite like meeting all the good boys and girls who come to see me at Scottsdale Fashion Square. Some of them will tell me wonderful stories of their good deeds throughout the year, while others will share a letter that I’ll read while on my way back to the North Pole each night.
What did you want to be when you were growing up?
A Gift Guru at Scottsdale Fashion Square. They have so many wonderful ideas about what to give anyone on your list. They’re a very helpful group of people.
What advice would you give to a kid who wants to have a similar career?
While they probably can’t take my place, because, well, I’m Santa, every child does have the chance to bring joy into the lives of those around them. From being kind and caring to helping those less fortunate and bringing a smile to someone who really needs it, every little boy and girl has the power to bring a bit of magic into the lives of others. That’s what the spirit of Christmas is all about.
One fun fact NOT about your job?
I love cooking for Mrs. Claus, the elves and our reindeer. Oh ho! You should see some of the delicious dishes I’ve prepared for them!
